MSP’s ESG in Private Equity – 2013 study showed that ESG management within private equity firms and their institutional investors continues to expand. In a recent interview, David Bonderman, founder of the highly regarded private equity firm, TPG Capital, added his support of these trends saying that he “think[s] the importance of ESG is on the way up, not on the way down.” He continued, “…the things that are most effective are where you both [increase the bottom line and have a sense of responsibility for the environment], where people are committed to doing the right thing…and see that it is financially viable.”
Bonderman remarked that ESG in private equity should be considered in all future investments. Bonderman proclaims that his “experience with these programs is that they pay for themselves and then some.”
