Ryan is a Principal at Malk Partners where he leads Malk’s ESG transactional advisory practice. He specializes in the identification and quantification of ESG risks for a number of industries including natural resource extraction, industrial services, global manufacturing, financial services, consumer products, food manufacturing, healthcare services, data analytics, distribution/transportation, energy, real estate and hospitality. He has advised on transactions representing over $3 billion in equity commitments, working with those companies after closure to mitigate ESG risks and explore EBITDA expansion through resource efficiency.
In addition, Ryan has built ESG programs for private equity firms representing over $300 billion in assets under management (AUM). He is the lead researcher and author on MSP’s flagship market study, ESG in Private EquitySM, annually conducting interviews with several dozen prominent private equity general and limited partners.
Ryan has been quoted as an expert on ESG in private equity in the Wall Street Journal, Private Funds Management, FundFire, International Securities Services Magazine, and Dow Jones Private Equity.
Ryan holds a B.A. in Environmental Economics from Pomona College.
Prior to joining Malk, Ryan worked for CORE Colorado, an organization dedicated to promoting sustainable business practices and a more responsible economy. There, he headed a project to bring environmental, social, and governance tools to small business owners. Ryan also served as a senior advisor to Pomona Ventures, a venture capital network focused on student startups. There, he worked with startups to develop value creation strategies and secure seed funding.
In his free time, he enjoys golfing and crunching baseball statistics.
