ESG Management in Private Equity
In 2012, Malk sought to measure, for the first time, the state of ESG management in private equity. Partnering with the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), Malk interviewed general partners and limited partners on some of the key ESG issues facing private equity. The results were staggering, 92% of general partner participants reported that they expected to increase their focus on ESG over the next three to five years.
Since the publishing of that report, Malk has worked independently to annually quantify the state of ESG in private equity and report on best practices from general and limited partners. Malk’s ESG in Private Equity series has become the most cited series on the topic, providing insight to general partners, institutional investors, consultants, and students.
In 2014, Malk unveiled a new tradition with its Issue Focus report on Enterprise Customer Sustainability Requirements. From now on, Malk will report on the broader state of the market in odd years, with a deeper dive into specific issues or trends in even years.
